Patients with IBS experienced improved symptoms when administering their own cognitive behavior therapy, as compared to patients who received similar therapy in a moderately monitored or professionally structured environment. Those treated through cognitive behavior therapy also were less likely to experience setbacks in their IBS symptoms.
